The Globe theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599. When they build the globe they used timber from an earlier theatre. It was sadly destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. A second globe was built on the same site by June 1614 and closed by an ordinance issued on 6. september.
A modern reconstruction of the globe, named the “Shakespeare globe” was opened in 1997, a little bit further away from the original theatre.
In the older times the globe was owned by actors who where shareholders in the Lord Chamberlain´s Men. In the beginning there were 6 men that owned the theatre. Some more than the other. Later this changed after new sharers were added.
